Ruari joined the PLSA in September 2021 and is the policy lead for defined contribution and master trusts. Most recently this has included government and regulatory engagement on decumulation, value for money, DC investment, and collective DC, among others.

Prior to joining the PLSA, he worked in public affairs at Standard Life where he focussed on a range of pensions policy issues, including automatic enrolment, pensions dashboards and financial advice, and latterly at Aberdeen Standard Investments/Abrdn, where led policy development on asset management issues including DC schemes accessing illiquid assets, DB scheme consolidation, and the increasing role of managers in schemes’ TCFD obligations. Ruari has a BA in modern languages (French & Italian) from Durham University.
